1:  Going Home

Story:  It's release time from Slade prison for Norman Stanley Fletcher.  After saying his goodbyes Fletcher boards a train for home intending to toast his freedom in the buffet car.  However, an old friend and Mr Mackay spoil the party...

2:  Going to be Alright

Story:  Fletcher's wife has left him.  The only income coming in to the Fletcher household comes from Ingrid, his daughter.  Shirley, his probation officer, suggests he gets a job.  However, Fletcher has a better idea.  He has a nest egg and all he needs to get at it is a spade to dig it up with...

3:  Going Sour

Story:  Fletcher is finding life out of prison hard.  He can't find a job and the less said about his attempts at DIY the better.  Then he meets Penny, a teenage runaway and tries to get her back on the straight and narrow.  But is his faith in human nature justified...?

4:  Going To Work

Story:  Fletcher visits his probation officer to find that she's got him a job interview as Night Security Officer at the Hotel Delphi.  Fletcher goes to the interview and gets the job.  However, as the time draws near to the job's first night, Fletcher begins to get cold feet...

5:  Going, Going, Gone
Transmitted: 31 March 1978

Story:  When Fletcher recognises one of the hotel guests as Worm Wellings, one of his fellow ex-inmates in jail Fletcher immediately fears the worst.  When elderly Mrs Appleby books in his fears are confirmed.  Wellings is running his old insurance scam again with Mrs Appleby as his accomplice.  Fletcher has to think quickly if he is to keep his reputation intact.  But is it all worthwhile?  Has Fletcher read the signs right or not?

6:  Going off the Rails
Transmitted:  7 April 1978

Story:  Fletcher is pulled in by the police to take part in an identity line-up.  While in the line-up he meets an old acquaintance, Dave Piper, who offers him a part in his next job.  Fletcher initially refuses but when Ingrid reveals that her mother will be paying for the reception at her forthcoming wedding to Godber, Fletcher starts to feel that he is not contributing enough to the family.  Fletcher decides to take the easy way out and accepts the offer from Dave.  Only problem is, the job is on the same day as the wedding...
