Story: Julian Dick and Anne arrive at Kirrin cottage to spend the holidays with their cousin Georgina. They arrive to find Georgina, or George as she prefers to be called, in a foul mood. Her father has taken over Kirrin island, the island he gave her as a present, for an experiment. Julian, Dick and Anne start to think that this holday may not be as much fun as they first thought. While exploring they meet Curton, a sinister man who seems overly keen to know about the Kirrin's. Could someone be after the results of Uncle Quentin's experiment...

Story: The five are being tutored at Kirrin Cottage during the school holidays. On a visit to Kirrin farm to look at some secret compartments Dick discovers some documents behind a stone. One of them appears to be a plan showing the location of a secret passage. Julian, Dick, Anne and their tutor Mr Roland visit the farm to find the secret passage but can't find a thing. While there they meet Wilton and Thomas, two photographers staying at the farm. Mr Roland claims not to know the two men. However, on arriving back at the cottage, George tells the others that she saw Roland talking to the photographers that afternoon before he met them at the farm... |

When Professor Kirrin, a supporter of the marsh draining scheme goes missing the Five begin to suspect that there is more to Barling's objections than meets the eye. Could it have something to do with the lights Sooty Lenoir keeps seeing on the marshes at night...? |

Story: The Five are on a caravaning holiday and camp down next to a circus. They meet Nobby, a boy who lives in the circus who shows them around. However, when they are spotted by two of the men of the circus, Tiger Dan and Lou they are told to clear off. When they hear where the Five have camped down they begin to get worried. Just what is so special to Tiger Dan and Lou about the field the Five are camping in?

Story: The Five go off camping with Mr Luffy, one of their teachers. Near where they camp is a railway yard and tunnel. Living there is Wooden-leg Sam who tells them to stay away from the line when they go to investigate. He tells them a story about a "spook train" that drives through the tunnel. Julian, Dick and local boy Jock go to investigate the train at night. They see the train enter the tunnel but don't see it come out the other end. Could it really be a "spook train"...?

Story: The Five are on a hike when a prisoner escapes. The Five get lost on the moor and are forced to spend the night in a barn. During the night Dick is woken by someone calling his name. The man, Williams, leaves a piece of paper and says "Two Trees, Gloomy Waters, Saucy Jane." He says that "Maggie knows already, I gave her the other one." Dick looks at the piece of paper. On it is a map. Later that night another man comes into the barn calling for Williams. Next day he tells the others. They realise that the map could lead to Williams ill-gotten gains. The Five decide to go looking for the loot themselves. However, the owner of the other map, Maggie and the other man are on the trail too... |
